    About the role#

    The Inter-American Development Bank is hiring a graduate student for a paid internship during the Winter 2027 term. This role supports research on economic empowerment and social sector issues across Latin America and the Caribbean. You will work on-site at the Bank's headquarters in Washington D.C. for a fixed two-month period from January 16 to March 15, 2027.

    What you'll do#

    • Clean and harmonize survey and administrative data from various regional sources.
    • Contribute to the design and implementation of descriptive and econometric analyses.
    • Construct policy environment indicators by coding information from legal reforms and administrative records.
    • Assist with literature reviews and the drafting of research papers.
    • Conduct additional analytical work as required by the research team.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as a graduate student in economics, sociology, political science, public policy, public health, or a related field.
    • Strong quantitative skills and experience with econometric analysis of large-scale survey and panel microdata.
    • Familiarity with statistical programming in R, Python, or Stata.
    • Knowledge of recent academic literature regarding labor force participation and social sector issues.
    • Fluency in English. Knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese is a plus.
    • You must be a national of an IDB member country and a first-time participant in an IDB Group internship program.
