About the role#
The Emerging Technologies Lab is seeking an undergraduate intern for the Winter 2027 term. This is a paid, full-time position based at our headquarters in Washington, D.C. You will contribute to laboratory projects and gain professional experience in development work and corporate management.
What you'll do#
- Integrate and connect different laboratory tools and systems.
- Develop clear documentation and tutorials for laboratory projects.
- Build demonstrations that show how multiple technologies work together.
- Create educational materials to communicate the laboratory’s projects, tools, and results.
- Develop benchmarking frameworks to evaluate and compare different technical approaches.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an undergraduate program for Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, with a graduation date after the internship period.
- Ability to write clean, functional code in at least one programming language.
- Familiarity with Git and GitHub or GitLab, including commits, branching, and pull requests.
- Fluency in English. Knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese is a plus.
- Citizenship of an IDB member country.
- Completion of at least the second year of undergraduate studies at the time of application.

- Term: January 16, 2027, to March 15, 2027.
- Modality: On-site, full-time (40 hours per week).
- Status: This is a paid internship for first-time participants in an IDB Group internship program.
