    About the role#

    The South Connection Regional Program Internship is a competitive, paid opportunity based at the Inter-American Development Bank headquarters. This program supports the implementation of the South Connection Regional Program, an initiative endorsed by 11 South American governments to enhance regional connectivity, boost competitiveness, and promote sustainable growth. You will work with the Country Department of the Southern Cone and the Country Department of Andean Countries to support regional integration efforts.

    What you'll do#

    • Support the coordination and monitoring of Program activities and contribute to the articulation between various IDB Group teams.
    • Conduct research and analysis on regional integration topics, including logistics corridors, energy, digital connectivity, and trade facilitation.
    • Prepare technical notes, briefings, presentations, and communication materials in English, Spanish, or Portuguese.
    • Assist in the development and updating of the Program's operational pipeline and monitoring tools.
    • Support the organization of meetings, workshops, forums, and regional events.
    • Systematize studies, diagnostics, and best practices related to subregional initiatives.

    What you'll need#

    • Active enrollment as a graduate student in Economics, Public Policy, International Relations, Law, or a relevant discipline. You must have completed at least 50% of your coursework.
    • Fluency in English and a working knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese.
    • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills with attention to detail.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
    • Must be a national of an IDB member country.
    • You must be a first-time participant in an IDB Group internship program and have no family members currently working at the IDB or IDB Invest.

    • Location: Washington, D.C., United States.
    • Term: Winter 2027 (January 16 to March 15, 2027).
    • Modality: On-site, full-time (40 hours per week).
    • Status: Paid internship.
