    About the role#

    The Inter-American Development Bank is seeking a graduate student for a paid internship within the Caribbean Department Economics team. This role provides an opportunity to gain professional experience in development work and corporate management. You will work on-site at our headquarters in Washington, D.C.

    What you'll do#

    • Support the preparation of Caribbean economics periodicals by gathering, analyzing, and drafting data.
    • Provide research support for ongoing and emerging department activities.
    • Assist with partnership agendas, including the Caribbean Debt Forum, the Caribbean Debt Managers Working Group, and the IDB UWI Fiscal Research Center Partnership.
    • Analyze data and prepare clear, concise written materials.
    • Contribute to other activities based on your specific skills and experience.

    What you'll need#

    • You are currently enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program in Economics, Political Science, International Relations, Statistics, Business Administration, Finance, Data Science, or Mathematics.
    • You have completed at least 50 percent of your graduate coursework.
    • You possess strong drafting and written communication skills in English.
    • You have research experience, including conducting studies and analyzing findings.
    • You are fluent in English and have a working knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese.
    • You are a national of an IDB member country.
    • You have not previously worked for the IDB or IDB Invest as a staff member, contractor, or through a complementary workforce.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Washington, D.C., United States.
    • Term: Winter 2027 (January 16 to March 15, 2027).
    • Modality: This is a full-time, on-site position requiring 40 hours per week.
    • Eligibility: You must be a first-time participant in an IDB Group internship program and have no family members currently working at the IDB or IDB Invest.
