    About the role#

    This is a paid, full-time internship for the Winter 2027 term. Based in Washington D.C., you will support the corporate legal affairs team. This program provides graduate students from member countries the chance to gain professional experience in development work and corporate management.

    What you'll do#

    • Conduct legal research and analysis to draft legal memoranda.
    • Assist attorneys with legal advice regarding institutional, financial, and operational matters.
    • Draft, review, and edit project documentation, such as loan and technical cooperation agreements.
    • Coordinate with outside law firms and review their legal advice.

    What you'll need#

    • You must be an active graduate student pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree in Law, Public Policy, Public Administration, International Relations, Political Science, or a related field.
    • Your expected graduation date must occur after the internship period, and you must have completed at least 50% of your coursework.
    • You must be a national of an IDB member country.
    • You need strong analytical and legal drafting skills, with knowledge of either Common Law or Civil Law legal systems.
    • Familiarity with administrative law, contracts, and corporate financial matters is preferred.
    • Fluency in English is required. A working knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese is a plus.
    • You must be a first-time participant in an IDB Group internship program and have no family members currently working at the IDB or IDB Invest.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Washington D.C., United States.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Duration: Full-time (40 hours per week) from January 16, 2027, to March 15, 2027.
    • Documentation: Applicants must submit a resume, academic transcripts, and a university letter certifying student status. Official transcripts may be requested if you move forward in the process.
