    About the role#

    The Youth Success Specialist Intern supports the International Rescue Committee Youth Program by assisting in the delivery of academic, social-emotional, and enrichment services for refugee and immigrant youth. You will work closely with staff to help students build the skills needed to succeed in school and their new community. This role is ideal for students in Psychology, Sociology, Human Resources, Communications, or Public Health.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist in the facilitation of virtual tutoring and mentoring sessions via Zoom.
    • Support outreach, scheduling, and communication with youth participants.
    • Monitor virtual sessions to ensure a safe environment for all participants.
    • Help develop and share educational resources and content.
    • Track attendance and assist with data entry for program evaluation.
    • Collaborate with the Youth Success Specialist to identify and respond to student needs.

    What you'll need#

    • Fluency in English.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Prior experience working with refugees and immigrants is preferred.
    • Availability on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM is required.

    Location & details#

    • This internship is based in Baltimore, Maryland.
    • The role is hybrid, requiring a mix of office, remote, and field time in the Baltimore area.
    • Interns are expected to be in the office at least 3 days per week.
    • The term runs for 14 weeks, from September 14, 2026, through December 18, 2026.
    • This is an unpaid position requiring a minimum of 15 hours per week.
