About the role#
This paid internship provides clinical experience for students currently pursuing their respiratory therapy education. You will work alongside experienced respiratory therapists in a supportive environment. The program offers mentorship and opportunities for professional growth within our health network. Interns may work up to 30 hours per week, with schedules arranged based on your availability and department needs.
What you'll do#
- Change, clean, and disinfect respiratory equipment as needed.
- Monitor inventory levels and restock supplies, oxygen, and gas cylinders.
- Assist with Interventional Pulmonary procedures, including equipment setup, handling instruments, and preparing specimens.
- Perform pre-operative checks and set up ventilators.
- Coordinate with the Bio-med department for equipment repairs.
- Follow infection control guidelines during all equipment reprocessing and cleaning tasks.
- Model hospital core values and maintain professional customer service in all interactions.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a Respiratory Therapy program is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new department software.
- Prior hospital experience is preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push or pull equipment up to 150 pounds.
Location & details#
This is an on-site, rolling internship. Positions are available at multiple campuses across Pennsylvania and New Jersey, including Allentown, Stroudsburg, Quakertown, Easton, Bethlehem, Phillipsburg, and Sellersville. Flexibility regarding your work location will increase your opportunities for placement.
