About the role#
The Respiratory Therapist Internship at St. Luke's University Health Network provides students with hands-on clinical experience while they complete their education. You will work alongside experienced respiratory therapists in a supportive environment. This is a paid position with flexible scheduling, allowing for up to 30 hours of work per week based on department needs.
What you'll do#
- Change, clean, disinfect, and restock respiratory equipment in hospital areas and emergency kits.
- Monitor inventory of supplies and oxygen gas cylinders, placing orders as needed.
- Assist in Interventional Pulmonary procedures, including equipment setup, handling instruments, and preparing specimens.
- Perform pre-operative checks and set up ventilators.
- Work with the Bio-med team to repair equipment.
- Adhere to infection control guidelines for all equipment handling.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Enrollment in a Respiratory Therapy Program is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software.
- Prior hospital experience is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site internship.
- Placements are available at multiple campuses in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Quakertown, and Sellersville, Pennsylvania, as well as Phillipsburg, New Jersey.
- Availability is limited at each site, so flexibility regarding campus location is encouraged.
