About the role#
St. Luke's University Health Network offers a full-time, paid Acute Care (Med Surg) internship for graduate nurses. This competency-based program supports your transition from a student to a professional nurse. You will participate in a mix of classroom orientation, seminars, workshops, simulation, and supervised hands-on training. The program is tailored to the individual learner and aims to bridge the gap between academic preparation and clinical practice.
What you'll do#
- Perform in-depth, systematic assessments of all assigned patients.
- Formulate collaborative and individualized plans of care, identifying expected outcomes using the nursing process.
- Prioritize patient care by coordinating with ancillary, nursing, and other team personnel to maintain professional standards.
- Function as a professional role model and provide guidance to co-workers.
What you'll need#
- A degree from an accredited nursing program.
- A current Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania or a Temporary Practice Permit issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. (Note: New Jersey licensure is required for the Warren Campus).
- Ability to complete an initial 7-day classroom orientation.
- Ability to meet physical requirements, including standing for up to 10 hours per day and lifting or transporting patients weighing up to 500 lbs.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site position with rolling start dates.
- Opportunities are available across multiple campuses in Pennsylvania, including Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Lehighton, Coaldale, Quakertown, Stroudsburg, Orwigsburg, and Sellersville.
- Shifts require 36 or 40 hours per week, with holiday and weekend requirements based on unit and company policies.
