About the role#
The Space Control and Awareness Department (SCAD) is hiring a graduate intern to support space mission analysis and operations. You will contribute to concept development, systems engineering, and algorithm evaluation for national security space customers. This role focuses on orbit determination, positioning navigation and timing, and space protection. You will work alongside experienced engineers and scientists to solve complex space enterprise challenges.
What you'll do#
- Develop and assess algorithms for space applications.
- Analyze space threat susceptibility, vulnerability, and system resiliency.
- Perform technical work related to orbit determination, target tracking, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) analysis, and signal integrity.
- Use modeling and simulation tools to conduct scientific and engineering tasks.
- Apply standard techniques to support command and control missions, radar, and sensor systems.
What you'll need#
- A completed Bachelor's degree and current enrollment in a Master's or Ph.D. program in physics, mathematics, or engineering.
- Senior class standing by the internship start date with enrollment in a graduate STEM program beginning Fall 2027.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Programming experience in MatLab, Python, C, C++, or JAVA.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time internship for Summer 2027.
- The position is 100% on-site at either Colorado Springs, Colorado, or El Segundo, California.
- The pay range for this role is $32.00 to $48.00 per hour.
