About the role#
This internship provides on-the-job training for recent graduates interested in higher education administration, student success, and academic advising. You will work within the Office of Advising Strategies to build a professional portfolio while supporting various campus units. This is a two-year, full-time position designed to bridge the gap between graduation and a career in fields like counseling, human resources, or public service.
What you'll do#
- Train to become a generalist in academic and integrated advising.
- Perform the duties of academic advisors or student success specialists for units across campus as needed.
- Support the advisement community during peak times and targeted events.
- Provide direct support to staff for projects and community engagement initiatives.
- Offer feedback to improve the training experience for personnel.
- Handle tasks ranging from front desk coverage and customer service to data management and proactive student outreach.
What you'll need#
- You are a recent college graduate.
- You hold a degree in Business Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Communications, Human Resources, Public Health, History, or English.
- A strong desire to help college students reach their educational goals.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Experience collaborating and interacting with diverse groups of people.
Location & details#
- Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- This is a paid, full-time, fixed-term position with a duration of two years.
