    About the role#

    The University of Wyoming is hiring a Makerspace Aide for a work-study position. This role supports the Coe Student Innovation Center and other campus makerspaces. You will help manage day-to-day operations, maintain equipment, and assist students, faculty, and community members with their projects. This is an on-site, paid role that provides technical training in device assembly and operations.

    What you'll do#

    • Monitor and maintain hardware and software to ensure optimal performance.
    • Troubleshoot equipment issues and assist with repairs.
    • Interact with a diverse population of students, staff, and community members.
    • Provide instruction, orientations, and tutorials for makerspace tools.
    • Develop teaching materials and resources for workshops.
    • Implement policies for equipment access and safety.
    • Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
    • Demonstrate creative problem-solving while acting as a lab ambassador.

    What you'll need#

    • High school education or higher.
    • A valid driver's license with a compliant motor vehicle record.
    • Enthusiasm for emergent technology, tinkering, and creative design.
    • Motivation, energy, and strong attention to detail.
    • Experience or interest in 3D printing, modeling, scanning, robotics, electronics, coding, or STEAM lesson development.
    • Ability to learn tasks requiring hand-eye coordination and tool use.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Laramie, Wyoming.
    • Work modality: On-site at campus makerspace locations.
    • Pay rate: $12.00 to $13.00 per hour.
