    About the role#

    This internship provides exposure to the technical and management aspects of the mining industry. You will work within our Cargill Protein and Salt business unit at an underground salt mine. The role focuses on gaining experience in Operations Leadership or Maintenance and Reliability Engineering. You will learn to lead teams, manage projects, and support technical operations in an underground environment.

    What you'll do#

    • Learn various mining techniques including surveying, mapping, room and pillar operations, and mineral processing.
    • Assist in supervising operators and production activities.
    • Participate in daily production management meetings.
    • Work on engineering projects and solutions to improve plant systems and infrastructure.
    • Develop an understanding of MSHA federal regulations and compliance programs.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
    • Ability to work in an underground environment.
    • Capacity to complete a 12-week internship during the summer of 2027.
    • Geographically flexible and willing to relocate for the duration of the internship.
    • Proven ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
    • High degree of initiative and resourcefulness.
