About the role#
As a Platform Engineer Intern, you will join our technology team to maintain and improve the reliability and efficiency of our systems. You will work under the guidance of senior technologists on projects that impact our infrastructure. This is a 10-week summer internship based in Chicago. We provide fully furnished housing near the office.
What you'll do#
- Manage the full lifecycle of services from design and deployment to operation and refinement.
- Write software to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of our services.
- Handle service capacity, performance, and disaster recovery tasks.
- Build automation to prevent the recurrence of issues in mission-critical services.
- Identify solutions to complex problems and share your ideas with the team.
- Collaborate with systems engineers, software developers, quantitative traders, and researchers.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related science discipline.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Exposure to networking, Linux/Unix administration, systems performance, capacity planning, Kubernetes, Docker, or CI/CD tools.
- Understanding of large-scale distributed systems.
- Scripting skills in languages such as Python or Bash.
