About the role#
This position is open exclusively to current and former HNTB interns. As a Returning Planner I, you will apply planning strategies to infrastructure projects. You will gather and analyze data, assess outcomes, and develop reports and visuals to communicate findings. This role supports the full project lifecycle, from concept development to completion, while working with inter-disciplinary teams.
What you'll do#
- Research, collect, and organize raw data for project use.
- Perform project analysis using technical guidance and software.
- Assist team members with the development of maps, exhibits, presentation materials, and reports.
- Conduct research on policies, planning concepts, and relevant issues.
- Help develop conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation projects.
- Prepare plans, studies, and environmental documents.
- Support stakeholder and public participation processes.
- Maintain project records and files.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency with GIS software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to compile and summarize data with direction from experienced staff.
- A Master’s degree in Urban Planning or related field is preferred.
- Previous internship or work experience in planning is preferred.

- This is a full-time, paid position for Summer 2027.
- The role is on-site.
