    About the role#

    This position is for current or former HNTB interns transitioning into a full-time Planner I role for Summer 2027 within the Great Lakes Division. You will work on infrastructure and transportation projects, assisting teams with data analysis, planning strategies, and project documentation from concept through completion.

    What you'll do#

    • Research and collect raw data, organizing and analyzing it for project use.
    • Assist project teams by developing maps, exhibits, presentation materials, and reports.
    • Conduct research on planning issues, policies, and concepts.
    • Prepare plans, studies, and environmental documents.
    • Help facilitate stakeholder and public participation processes.
    • Maintain project files and records.

    What you'll need#

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Proficiency with GIS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to compile and summarize data under the direction of experienced staff.
    • Experience reviewing and preparing research for project reports.
    • A Master’s degree in Urban Planning or related field is preferred.
    • Previous internship or work experience in planning is preferred.
