    About the role#

    The Inter-American Development Bank is hiring a graduate student for a paid internship within the Research Department. This role focuses on behavioral economics and provides exposure to development work through hands-on research and intervention design. You will work from our headquarters in Washington D.C. for a two-month term from January 16th to March 15th, 2027.

    What you'll do#

    • Prepare reports and briefs that communicate insights from behavioral projects in sectors like health, financial inclusion, and heuristics training.
    • Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions and workshops to support innovation in behavioral economics.
    • Assist with the full cycle of behavioral interventions, including diagnosis, design, evaluation, and reporting.
    • Conduct literature reviews to summarize findings and identify research gaps.
    • Build practical research skills through direct involvement in multiple development projects.

    What you'll need#

    • Active enrollment in a graduate program (Master's or Ph.D.) in economics, behavioral science, psychology, statistics, or data science. You must have completed at least 50% of your coursework.
    • Fluency in English and a working knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese.
    • Strong analytical skills using statistical software such as STATA and R.
    • Ability to conduct literature reviews on behavioral economics interventions.
    • You must be a national of an IDB member country.
    • You cannot have family members working at the IDB or IDB Invest up to the fourth degree of consanguinity.
    • This must be your first internship with the IDB Group.

    • Location: Washington D.C., United States.
    • Modality: Full-time on-site (40 hours per week).
    • Term: January 16th to March 15th, 2027.
    • This is a paid position.
