About the role#
The Inter-American Development Bank is hiring a graduate student for a paid internship during the winter of 2027. This program offers an opportunity to learn about development work and institutional management while gaining professional experience. You will work on-site at the Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C.
What you'll do#
- Conduct legal research and analysis, including drafting legal memoranda.
- Assist attorneys in providing advice on the institutional, financial, and operational matters of the Bank.
- Draft, review, and edit project documentation such as loan and technical cooperation agreements.
- Coordinate with external law firms and review their legal advice.
What you'll need#
- You must be an active graduate student pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree in Law, Public Policy, Public Administration, International Relations, Political Science, or a related field.
- Completion of at least 50% of your coursework is required at the time of application.
- You must be a national of an IDB member country.
- Fluency in English is required. A working knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese is a plus.
- You cannot have family members currently working at the IDB or IDB Invest.
- This must be your first internship with the IDB Group, and you must not have previously worked for the Bank or the Corporation as a staff member, contractor, or through any other contractual modality.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, full-time role based in Washington, D.C.
- The internship runs from January 16, 2027, to March 15, 2027. These dates are fixed.
- You must be available to work 40 hours per week.
