    About the role#

    The Inter-American Development Bank is seeking an undergraduate student for a paid internship in translation and document service support. This program provides an opportunity to learn about development work and corporate management while gaining professional experience. You will work on-site at our headquarters in Washington, D.C. for a two-month term during the winter of 2027.

    What you'll do#

    • Use specialized computer-assisted translation tools to build and maintain translation memory databases.
    • Produce draft translations of official documents from the Bank's official languages into your mother tongue for review.
    • Conduct research to compile terminology and contribute to the development of glossaries and style manuals.
    • Perform quality control reviews to ensure the accuracy and completeness of translated documents.
    • Assist with the implementation of language technology and analytics tools.
    • Align official documents using alignment software.

    What you'll need#

    • You must be an active undergraduate student in Literature, Language Studies, Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Translation, or a related discipline.
    • Your expected graduation date must be after the internship period, and you must have completed your second year of studies.
    • You must be a citizen of an IDB member country.
    • You must be a first-time participant in an IDB or IDB Invest internship program.
    • Fluency in English is required, along with working knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese.
    • Experience with computer-assisted translation tools and terminology management software is preferred.

    • Location: Washington, D.C., United States.
    • Term: January 16, 2027, to March 15, 2027.
    • Commitment: This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week.
    • Compensation: This is a paid internship.
