About the role#
The Department of Environmental Studies and Science (ESS) at Pace University is looking for an undergraduate student assistant to join the team in New York. This role supports departmental events and social media efforts, helping to promote research, coursework, and community engagement. You will work closely with the graduate assistant to gain hands-on experience in event coordination and science communication.
What you'll do#
- Assist in planning and executing department events such as lectures, workshops, and field trips.
- Manage event logistics, including room reservations, signage, materials, and refreshments.
- Draft and schedule social media content while maintaining a regular calendar.
- Capture photos and video at events for use in department communications.
- Coordinate with faculty, student clubs, and campus offices to promote activities.
- Support general communication tasks like creating flyers and email announcements.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate enrollment at Pace University, ideally within the ESS department and as a member of PSI.
- An interest in environmental studies, science communication, or media and marketing.
- Proficiency using social media platforms for professional or organizational purposes.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability and the availability to staff occasional evening or weekend events.
- Experience with graphic design tools like Canva is a plus.
