About the role#
This full-time night shift internship is designed for graduate nurses and experienced RNs transitioning into the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The program provides a competency-based curriculum tailored to individual learning needs. You will participate in a progressive arrangement of seminars, workshops, supervised hands-on training, simulation, and clinical observations. The program includes AWHONN Neonatal Orientation and Education coursework.
What you'll do#
- Provide nursing care for high-risk neonates and infants through the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of care.
- Work cooperatively with patient-team personnel to maintain professional nursing practice standards.
- Model the Network Service Excellence Standards of Performance in all interactions.
- Maintain confidentiality of all materials and follow proper information release protocols.
- Comply with all departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.
- Demonstrate competency in patient assessment and age-appropriate communication.
What you'll need#
- Current Registered Nurse license to practice in Pennsylvania.
- Current BLS certification.
- Successful completion of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program within one year.
- For nursing students: prospective graduation dates in spring, summer, or winter, with eligibility to sit for the NCLEX and obtain licensure before the internship start date.
- For nursing students: prior experience working in a NICU or a scheduled senior practicum in a NICU.
- For experienced RNs: must not have previous work experience in a NICU setting.
