About the role#
As a Radiology Student Intern Technologist at St. Luke's University Health Network in Coaldale, you will perform diagnostic radiographic procedures under the supervision of a registered technologist. This part-time, on-site role focuses on supporting clinical operations while you gain hands-on experience in a hospital setting. The position follows a rolling schedule.
What you'll do#
- Perform diagnostic radiographic services for patients while ensuring radiation protection.
- Evaluate the technical quality of images and ensure accuracy before sending them to PACS.
- Verify patient history, condition, and background information to prepare for examinations.
- Educate patients about their exams and provide necessary information.
- Maintain equipment and manage supplies in your assigned area.
- Demonstrate competency in RIS/HIS modules and follow downtime procedures when necessary.
- Participate in professional development through continuing education and in-service programs.
- Adhere to department policies regarding attendance, dress code, and patient confidentiality.
- Support the department in achieving Press Ganey goals through excellent service.
- Follow all safety, reporting, and performance improvement protocols.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current student in an ARRT-recognized radiography program.
- You must have completed clinical competencies in Chest, Abdomen, and Extremity categories.
- A current BLS certification is required.
- Ability to stand or walk for up to 8 hours per shift.
- Physical capability to assist in lifting, pushing, or pulling patients up to 300 pounds with help and lifting objects up to 30 pounds.
