About the role#
This internship role within the Air and Naval Sonar Systems group offers students hands-on experience with mission-critical systems. You will work alongside senior engineers to gain exposure to the full software development lifecycle. The position focuses on design, implementation, testing, and technical documentation.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design, analysis, and implementation of software features to meet system requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and document software using C++, C, Java, and Python.
- Support the integration of software with internal systems and third-party equipment.
- Participate in unit, integration, and verification testing.
- Prepare technical documentation including requirements, design notes, test plans, and reports.
- Investigate system issues, support root cause analysis, and resolve software bugs.
- Collaborate with team members during design and peer reviews.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Enrollment at a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution.
- Understanding of software engineering principles and the development lifecycle.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance.

- Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
- Term: Winter 2027 (4 to 8 months).
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
- Compensation: $24.92 to $33.23 per hour, with eligibility for quarterly pay increases.
- Employment Type: Paid, full-time internship.
