    About the role#

    The Inter-American Development Bank is seeking an active graduate student for a paid, full-time internship in Washington D.C. for the Winter 2027 term. This position offers an opportunity to gain professional experience in development work and corporate management. You must be a national of an IDB member country and currently enrolled in a graduate program with a graduation date after March 15, 2027. This is a first-time internship program for participants who have not previously worked for the Bank or IDB Invest.

    What you'll do#

    • Apply quantitative tools to analyze risk across investment portfolios, including resilience indicators and forward-looking metrics.
    • Build and improve risk dashboards and visual analytics to support Treasury decision-making.
    • Automate risk reporting and data controls to increase the accuracy and transparency of portfolio monitoring.
    • Research fixed income markets and liquidity risk drivers, including benchmarking practices and portfolio trends.
    • Summarize quantitative analysis into concise insights for governance and methodology discussions.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as a graduate student in Finance, Risk Management, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or Economics.
    • Completion of at least 50% of your graduate coursework at the time of application.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to produce well-written, coherent documentation.
    • Fluency in English. Proficiency in Spanish, French, or Portuguese is a plus.
    • Experience in finance, capital markets, risk management, or portfolio management, particularly with derivatives, is preferred.

    • Location: Washington D.C., United States.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week) from January 16, 2027, to March 15, 2027.
    • Documentation: Applicants must submit a resume, official or unofficial academic transcripts, and a university letter certifying student status. Transcripts and letters must be issued within the last three months.
