About the role#
St. Luke's University Health Network offers a full-time, paid Acute Care Internship designed to transition nurses from novice to advanced beginner. This competency-based program supports your professional development through a mix of seminars, workshops, supervised hands-on training, and simulation. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide care for patients with acute conditions across various specialties, including oncology, cardiac, trauma, and medical-surgical units.
What you'll do#
- Perform in-depth, systematic assessments of all assigned patients.
- Formulate collaborative, individualized care plans and identify expected patient outcomes using the nursing process.
- Prioritize patient care by coordinating with ancillary and nursing staff to maintain professional standards.
- Act as a professional role model and resource for co-workers.
- Demonstrate the Network’s Service Excellence Standards in all interactions.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient information and network materials.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- A current Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania or New Jersey, or a Temporary Practice Permit issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
- Eligibility to sit for the NCLEX and obtain licensure before the internship start date for current students.
- Availability for an initial 7-day classroom orientation.
- Ability to meet physical requirements, including standing for up to 10 hours per day and transporting patients weighing up to 500 lbs.
- This program is also open to experienced RNs with less than one year of acute care experience.

- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time (36 or 40 hours per week), including holiday and weekend requirements.
- Locations: Opportunities are available across multiple campuses in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Lehighton, Coaldale, Quakertown, Stroudsburg, Orwigsburg, and Sellersville, Pennsylvania.
